Inhomogeneous Knight shift in vortex cores of superconducting FeSe

نویسندگان

چکیده

We report $^{77}$Se NMR data in the normal and superconducting states of a single crystal FeSe for several different field orientations. The Knight shift is suppressed state in-plane fields, but does not vanish at zero temperature. For fields oriented out plane, little or no reduction observed below $T_c$. These results reflect spin-singlet pairing emerging from nematic with large orbital susceptibility spin-orbit coupling. spectra spin-relaxation rate reveal electronic inhomogeneity that enhanced state, possibly arising density vortex cores. Despite spin polarization these states, there evidence antiferromagnetic fluctuations.

Topological Majorana and Dirac zero modes in superconducting vortex cores.

We provide an argument based on flux insertion to show that certain superconductors with a nontrivial topological invariant have protected zero modes in their vortex cores. This argument has the flavor of a two-dimensional index theorem and applies to disordered systems as well. It also provides a new way of understanding the zero modes in the vortex cores of a spinless px+ipy superconductor. A...

Superconducting gap structure of FeSe

The microscopic mechanism governing the zero-resistance flow of current in some iron-based, high-temperature superconducting materials is not well understood up to now. A central issue concerning the investigation of these materials is their superconducting gap symmetry and structure. Here we present a combined study of low-temperature specific heat and scanning tunnelling microscopy measuremen...

Nematic order in the vicinity of a vortex in superconducting FeSe

Abstract We present a phenomenological theory of the interplay between nematic order and superconductivity in the vicinity of a vortex induced by an applied magnetic field. Nematic order can be strongly enhanced in the vortex core. As a result, the vortex cores become elliptical in shape. For the case where there is weak bulk nematic order at zero magnetic field, the field-induced eccentricity ...

Scanning Tunneling Spectroscopy in the Superconducting State and Vortex Cores of the β-Pyrochlore KOs

We performed the first scanning tunneling spectroscopy measurements on the pyrochlore superconductor KOs2O6 (Tc=9.6 K) in both zero magnetic field and the vortex state at several temperatures above 1.95 K. This material presents atomically flat surfaces, yielding spatially homogeneous spectra which reveal fully gapped superconductivity with a gap anisotropy of 30%. Measurements performed at fi...

Hyper-expanded interlayer separations in superconducting barium intercalates of FeSe.

Intercalation of Ba in β-FeSe by ammonothermal synthesis results in the formation of different superconducting phases with interlayer distance ranging between 8.4 and 13.1 Å. The values of Tc are primarily dependent on Ba content, and are further modulated by the interlayer spacing through facile intercalation and deintercalation of ammonia.
